Strongbark

Bourreria sp

Description:

Sparse shrub, about 4 feet in height. Flowers are five or four petaled and fragrant. Bark of main trunk is rough and corky in appearance.

Habitat:

Small upland forest encircled by suburbs.

Notes:

Not sure of species. This specimen seems entirely out of range for any Bourreria occurring in Florida. In the coming months I'll check back on this shrub for fruit that might help to ID
