American Bittern

Botaurus lentiginosus

Description:

A stocky and well-camouflaged heron of dense reed beds, the American Bittern is difficult to see. Its far-carrying booming call is distinctive, but the bittern itself likes to keep under cover. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/ameri...

I agree jamie, it let me get a few shots then I think it realized it was exposed and it flew off. My good fortune!
