Nudibranch eating a tunicate. Without hard shells for protection, a nudibranch could be very vulnerable. To counteract this, some species are able to sequester toxins from their food sources making them poisonous or distasteful to predators. This fact is advertised by their bright colours - a strategy called Aposematic colouring
