The Santurbán moor, a hidden paradise in the mountaintops Santandereanas, which offers a wide variety of biodiversity, which has 47 lakes, more than 457 species of plants, over 17 species between amphibians and reptiles, over 201 species wild birds and has more than 58 species of mammals. The biological richness that houses the moor is unique because most of its species have evolved complex adaptations to live under extreme climatic conditions of this ecosystem mechanisms to hold water against the wind and maintain a proper temperature make the existence of life in the high altitudes where they located the moors which are the main source of non-renewable water resource.
