Fall armyworm

Spodoptera frugiperda

Description:

This caterpillar was a little more than an inch in length, with yellow, orange, and black markings. I believe this is a fall armyworm, but could be mistaken. Verification of this species of armyworm would be appreciated.

Feeds on a variety of small grain crops and grasses. Found in Eastern and Central North America, South America, and is considered an invasive species in Africa.
