Spotting

Description:

Hiding under a eucalyptus leaf this spider was about 35mm long. Broad flare on cephalothorax larger than abdomen male? Sparse strong hairs on legs?

Habitat:

In a local nature reserve adjoining a national park.

Notes:

Yet to find family, genus or species... Lycosidae? Eriophora?

I really should wear my glasses too.. just noticed strong hairs on the legs that don't look very wolfish either :)

I am inclined to think this is an orb spider.
I am not aware that wolf spiders ever leave the ground.
The cephalothorax has a hairy and raised section toward the eyes and remind me of this ancient spotting. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/846...
