Tufted Foxtail Lichen

Nodobryoria abbreviata

Description:

A reddish brown fruticose lichen with a very stringy or bushy appearance. The yellow lichen is brown-eyed sunshine(Vulpicida canadensis). The white lichen is forked tube lichen(Hypogymnia imshaugii).

Habitat:

Spotted on a ponderosa pine limb in a pine and fir dominate forest near the Cle elum river.

Thanks Machi. It's the first time I have seen this one so it took some time to ID it. I'm going back their tomorrow to do some work so maybe I'll find more. I would like to find some isolated by itself as well. But that is contingent on the forest fires their having not far from there.
