Broad-headed Skink

Plestiodon laticeps

Description:

Olive brown smooth scaled lizard with a reddish head. It struck me odd that after I looked at the photo closer I noticed a relatively large hole behind the eye.

Habitat:

They prefer humid forest areas. This one was found near (50 feet) Tower Pond and Picnic Ponds crawling under thick bushes.
