Habitat:

widespread in peninsular Florida. It can be found in rivers, ponds, and lakes.

Notes:

It was digging a hole with its back legs, I assume a nest, right by the walkway. The hole seemed too wet to me, don't know if that's a problem. Perhaps it will not use it.
