Lucidota atra
This was found inside a rotting log, which was laying in leaf litter. It is approximately 1 to 1.2 cm in length. White underside, pink on the sides and black on top. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much Martin, that is what it is.....great help.
Actually it looks very similar to a firefly larva http://www.flickr.com/photos/anitagould/...
This is an insect, since there are six legs. This is a larva (nymph) since it is still segmented and not yet with head, body, thorax pattern. I expect a beetle, their larvae are usually curl grubs but often very mobile as this one is. Some beetles in the firefly family mature as a wingless nymph.
