Gloriosa superba
Beautiful, but deadly. Yeah, this is Flame lily. Flame lily is a semi-woody herbaceous, branching climber, reaching approximately 5 metres in height. The entire plant, especially the tubers, are extremely poisonous. The toxic properties of the plant are essentially due to the highly active alkaloid colchicine.
The plant grows in sunny positions in free draining soil; it is very tolerant of nutrient poor soils.
