Anhinga

Anhinga anhinga

Description:

Anhingas are large birds about 89 cm (35 in) long with a wingspan of over a meter (3.7 ft). Plumage is mostly black tinged with some green on the wings. The tail is black with a tinge of blue with white tips. Wings and back are spotted or striped with white. Females are similar but with duller colors around the head and neck.

Habitat:

Wetlands.

Notes:

Both of these photos were taken on the Anhinga Trail in the Everglades National Park. Lots of people, but the birds were highly habituated to people, which made it a great place to photograph wildlife.
