Neotropical Tree Boa

Corallus sp.

Description:

Corallus is a genus of non-venomous boas found in Central America, South America and the West Indies. Seven species are currently recognized. Not sure which one this is.

Habitat:

Zoo.

Notes:

The local zoo call me when they perform biometry processes with animals, so they can also see their progress through photographs. (they could do that, but they know I enjoy doing this :) )

No problem! I'm pretty positive it is C. hortulanus based on the markings (I know they can be very variable) I see. Both C. annulatus and C. ruschenbergerii tend to have heavier markings around the neck and you can definitely rule out C. ruschenbergerii if the tail wasn't black.

Beautiful boa! I really love the Corallus species! This looks to be C. hortulanus, but if you have any body/tail shots I could say for sure.
