Grass Pink

Description:

Also known as Deptford Pink, this is a herbaceous annual or biennial plant, this specimen some 40 cm tall. The leaves are hairy, dark green, slender, up to 5 cm long. The flowers are about 15 mm diameter, with five petals, reddish-pink with whitish spots; they are produced in small clusters at the top of the stems from early to late summer.

Habitat:

This Dianthus is a species native to most of Europe. Here observed in rural area close to Geneva, on edges of agricultural fields bordering local forest-and-meadow like park. The park itself is at the outskirts of the town center, in lowlands around Geneva lake (lac Leman), just between Alps and Jura mountain ranges.
