Phoenicurus ochruros

Description:

Striking red tail seem in all plumages. Breeding male has otherwise blackish plumage with white panel on wings and orange vent and undertail coverts. Winter male and female at all times have rather uniform grey-brown plumage. Legs and bill black in all birds.

Habitat:

Favours rocky mountains and outskirts of villages. Widespread resident in West Mediterranean.
