A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Melopsittacus undulatus
These budgerigars (budgies) were in the free flight aviary at Tamworth Marsupial Park. The one in the first shot made me laugh - it was fast asleep in the middle of the path! Budgies are native Australian parrots - in the wild they are green and yellow, but they are a popular cage bird and since being introduced into captivity they have been bred into a variety of colour forms, including pure white, blue, yellow, mauve, olive and grey.
