Deirochelys reticularia chrysea
This is the Floridian subspecies of the chicken turtle, Deirochelys reticular chrysea. I don't see many of these around -- at least not as much as the standard cooter/slider fellas, but they're there. Just less obvious in my experiences. On this day, heavy rains had lured the turtle up to State Road 44 somewhere west of Interstate 95. I have to approximate the location on this one, as I forgot to record it on this day. Thanks, all! I'll work on focusing more on turtles, Neil. I admit I pass by them far too often... Grand Bay certainly has its share and I *do* still have a ton of old photos to go through. Definitely some material to post, though I need to get cracking on new stuff!
