Red-eared Slider Turtle

Description:

semi-aquatic; subspecies of the pond slider; get their name from the small red stripe around their ears; The "slider" in their name comes from their ability to slide off rocks and logs and into the water quickly; the shell is worn, dark olive green almost brown so this one has been around and is pretty old; carapace about 12 inches.

Ribbonwalk Nature Preserve pond

probably a pet that someone released into the wild; they can live up to 30 years
