Description:

This plant is one of a very few parasitic and chlorophyll-free plants. It generally is found growing from the roots of oak and beech trees. It grows in a cone shape from the ground. These particular plants have recently finished flowering and the whitish seed capsules can be seen easily.

Habitat:

Temperate forest floor. Shenandoah National Park, Virginia.
