AnneW Emperor Gum Moth
Emperor Gum Moth commented on by AnneW Melbourne, Victoria, Australiaa year ago

Seen in our garden, this moth is the first of its kind I have seen, although I was able to immediately identify it due to it's huge size. Close up, it reminds me of a teddy bear with a very hairy body. I love its striped socks! :)

Thanks Martin, believe it or not the lady who took that photo on Flickr is one of my "Flickr friends". When I saw this fly I thought of Jean and wondered if she would have one in her collection but have not been to Flickr for a long time and so haven't got around to asking! Now you have answered the question without me having to ask! :)

Hi Martin, thank you for the ID! It's really interesting to learn more about it. It was the first time I've seen a twisted moth, in fact my brothers saw it and called me to photograph it. Ever since they saw a big emperor gum moth, they've become great moth spotters! :)
