Definitely a winged aphid of some sort, but I don't know which species.
The shape suggests it's in the Pea family, but I don't know the area well enough to ID further.
That's a great one! I've seen plenty of Pileateds, but they don't often give such a nice view. Usually they're way up above me, and often obscured by lots of branches.
Very nice! One of my pair is at least this obstructed as well, and half the face of the other is, too. I don't blame them for wanting to hide, though - too many noisy nosy humans!
