Sign In to followThank you Malcolm, i'm not familiar with Clements? because i have US bird books and of course we're the center of the universe but will expand my horizons and see about the download for Excel ~ is it going to give me every bird in the world ? birding is a world of learning to be sure.
love their Spanish name...Piquituerto ~ i wonder if they're the same Genus-species as the US varieties ? still they're a fun bird to hang out with at the pool in Spain:)
kewl species to be sure ~ are they in a large colony or smaller flocks ?
are they nesting near you?
compared to the Himatopus mexicanus these look like 'juveniles' but are obviously same species different family ~ it would be good to know where these pix were taken?
thank you,
thank you Willard,
also that should be Marshy lake in the description.
i was fortunate to photograph a nesting pair of these Beautiful Black-necked Stilts with young running around for a First in Billings, MT recording.
interesting breed ~
what's the bird in the foreground?
it looks sooooo Big here ~ nice shots of a kewl shore bird
Thank you ~ they should be here again soon ! right now it's the White-crowned Sparrow making its Spring debut.
