MaryRosales, I don't have to climb the tree ... rsrs Here was must use all the zoom range of my camera.
Leuba, in fact this species adapts well to human presence. It is often found in backyards and squares of cities here in Minas Gerais. Thanks for the comments!
Mary, In fact, I don't need to use a lot of zoom, it was about 4 metres from me only.
Liam, Accipiter striatus ventralis or Accipiter ventralis (full species) does not occurs here in southwest region from Brazil. His range are north of South America. This ones in the photos posted here are from subspecies erythronemius (Accipiter striatus erythronemius). Some authors recognize erythronemius as a full species, but not reconized here in Brazil. The CBRO (Comitê Brasileiro de Registros Ornitológicos) considers erytronemius a subspecies from Accipiter striatus.
Thanks Kristal, I also believe that it is a Neuroptera. But which species would be this? Has anyone seen something similar before?
Beautiful story Heather, certainly must have been a thrilling encounter! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome Heather.
No Harsha, the King Vulture can be found from south Mexico to Northern Argentina. But it's not a common bird, in some places is quiet rare.
Great series Heather! I love raptors!
