Hi Jae, I've found Gymnopus peronatus before and it had this same hairy stem: http://www.first-nature.com/fungi/gymnop... Sorry I can't be certain, it would be useful to have a photo of the gills like you said if you go back that way and it's still there.
very beautiful!
Very overdue thanks for the ID MichelBeeckman and thanks Marta for the comment!
wow, nice colour and form. This might be why they also have the common name Salmon Waxcap
Maybe something like Orange Peel Fungus - Aleuria aurantia
Thanks for the tip fungi, I've updated the title name
thanks for the tip again fungi, I'll update if I find out any more from the sample
Yes I agree caution must be taken eating any fungi, I often taste a little piece (and spit this out) to gather more information. Michael Jordans Encyclopedia of Fungi says this is fine from a mycotoxin point of view (probably best to be careful of animal faeces though!). Thanks for the tip fungi!
I just did a google search for the entheogenic properties of this fungus and couldn't find any reference, I did find out that P. salicinus contains psilocybin and psilocin which was completely unexpected for me! It should make for some good photos if the stem will turn blue!
nice legs and good photo, thanks for sharing!
