I'm not a scientist, but always had a passion for the natural world. Looking forward to sharing this hobby with like-minded individuals.

Sign In to followLOL. Hadn't thought of that. We could name him Tintoretto, Toddler Mutant Ninja Turtle. lol
Thanks. I guess only placental mammals have true belly buttons ( the scar left by detachment of the umbilical cord), that's why I wrote " belly button". I'm sure that feature seen here where the yolk sack was attached has a technical name which I don't know. I think that the turtle's "belly button" is not a permanent feature and disappears as they grow.
Bug (plant bug I think), not a beetle. Let me see if I can find ID.
Yes, americana americana, is what I was thinking also.
If able, it would be a good one to submit to bugguide.net
They don't have any submissions for Mississippi of this month.
Yes Maria, this pictures were taken at around 10 AM. According to what I read, the flowers open late in the evening and are at their peek early in the morning with most folding by mid afternoon.
Beautiful! Love that first action shot.
Well when out this morning and took those flower pics. I decided to make them a separate spotting since it was a totally different location. Here are the flowers:

Yes, thank you, Maria. Perfect excuse to head out to the beach. :)
