It looks like a type of Agave to me, though I'm not sure which.

Hm. It seems that if it's in New York City, it's more than likely one of the pets that escaped, and it's likely that those interbred; this might be a mix of multiple species rather than one distinct one. Just a guess! I'm most certainly not a parrot expert.

Oh, no, it was in the part of Tenaya that passes through the Valley, so the altitude wasn't so high.
It certainly looks like it, but I don't remember seeing any fruit--whether it produced earlier in the year, I'm not sure. And it wasn't flowering.
