The females of Calopteryx species look like this.

taka.ita Coenagrion pulchellum
Coenagrion pulchellum commented on by taka.ita Lascabanes, Midi-Pyrénées, Tromelin Island3 months ago

It is not Coenagrion pulchellum, but Coenagrion pulella. The U-shape on segment 2 and the amount of blue on segments 4-6 point all to C.puella.

Sympecma fusca commented on by taka.ita Vers, Midi-Pyrénées, Tromelin Island3 months ago

Nice photo. But you misspelled the name: it is "Sympecma fusca" *without 'r', not "Sympecma frusca".

taka.ita Broad Scarlet Dragonfly
Broad Scarlet Dragonfly commented on by taka.ita Llíria, Comunitat Valenciana, Spain6 months ago

Libellula pontica is not an option for Spain. And although it might look alike, there are some differences. Check out the color at the base of the wings. On your photo it is orange, not brown.

taka.ita Southern Hawker, female
Southern Hawker, female commented on by taka.ita Schönstedt, Freistaat Thüringen, Germany6 months ago

Sorry, it's a Southern Hawker (Aeshna cyanea).

The Green Hawker is very rare in Western Europe, appears solely where the Water Soldier grows and looks quite differently.

My first thought is a female Enallagma cyathigerum.

taka.ita Gomphus vulgatissimus
Gomphus vulgatissimus commented on by taka.ita Луганська область, Ukraine7 months ago

Nice photos.

It is however not Aeshna cyanea, but something from a different dragonfly family: Gomphidae and I would suggest Gomphus vulgatissimus.

I am not 100% sure of my suggestion, because you might have similar species there, with which I am not familiar.

taka.ita Oriental Scarlet
Oriental Scarlet commented on by taka.ita Mumbai, Maharashtra, India7 months ago

It is not Sympetrum fonscolombii, the abdomen is too broad for it. It looks more like a Crocothemis species, probably Crocothemis servilia.

taka.ita Emperor Dragonfly
Emperor Dragonfly commented on by taka.ita Daux, Midi-Pyrénées, Tromelin Island8 months ago

Not Anax imperator, but Aeshna cyanea.

taka.ita libélula
libélula commented on by taka.ita Algarve, Portugal8 months ago

It's an Ischnura species. The most common in Europe is Ischnura elegans, but that one is replaced by Ischnura graellsii in Spain and Portugal.
