BioBlitz: Rocky Mountain National Park
This two-day celebration of biodiversity centers on a 24-hour race to count species. Join this mission to add wildlife spottings in Rocky Mountain National Park before, during, and after this great event. Naturalists and taxonomy specialists not attending the event are also invited to participate by using their expertise to help identify observations submitted to the mission. Help us count and identify species in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado! National Geographic and the National Park Service are hosting a BioBlitz in Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, Colorado on August 24-25, 2012. This high-elevation park includes a diversity of ecosystems including montane forests of quaking aspens and ponderosa pines, to subalpine hillslopes of Engelmann spruce, to alpine tundra dotted with glaciers. An abundance of organisms can be found at all elevations.
