Creating a catalogue of the fauna and flora of Lonavala, Maharashtra as the area has had very little research carried out here. Deforestation and habitat fragmentation is increasing with agriculture and tourism so it is important to understand the areas biodiversity before it disappears. Many of the large mammals appear to have vacated the area over the past 5 years, including tigers, leopards, wild dogs and hyenas.
