Spady Species

Spady Species

All Upper Elementary students must upload at least ONE spotting of a plant or animal they have seen on our school campus. This is due by Thursday, May 30th. In order to successfully complete this assignment, they must answer EVERY section of the UPLOAD A SPOTTING page. The ONLY optional sections are the video and the hashtags. If a student cannot access the internet to upload a spotting, he/she may turn in a typed or NEATLY handwritten spotting essay. In either case, students must provide the following information: 1. Photo of species 2. Common Name 3. Category (Plant, Arthropod, Bird, Amphibian, Reptile, Mammal, etc.) 4. Scientific Name 5 Description 6. Habitat (Where does this species live on our PLANET?) 7. Location of spotting (city) 8. Date of spotting 9. Assign spotting to Spady Species Mission 10. References - websites used for research Lastly, he/she MUST confirm that the photo is owned by the student or student has permission from owner to post it online. (Photos found on the internet MAY NOT be posted on Project Noah as spottings!) Students were provided details for the research of the species description (plant or animal). This portion of the spotting will be assessed for quality of WRITING.

Our students are posting spottings of plants and animals that reside on our school campus. Our goals are to create a virtual field study guide for our outdoor learning lab, to inspire our students to be more observant of the awe and wonder of the worls around them, to practice our newly acquired technology skills as well as our research and writing skills, and finally, to provide a social media outlet for our students to interact and keep in touch over the summer.
