The purpose of this mission is to document all kinds of Longhorn Beetles (feel free to add spotting of larvae too) and create another amazing collection that will contribute to all the globe-wide-nature-lovers. This mission was recently extended on global scale and everybody is welcome to contribute!

This fascinating beetles belong to the family Cerambycidae are know as Longhorn Beetles, Long-horned Beetles or Longicorns. This is a very cosmopolitan family of beetles with over 20 000 species described and slightly more than half come from the Eastern Hemisphere. The family is devided into 8 subfamilies: Cerambycinae, Dorcasominae, Lamiinae, Lepturinae, Necydalinae, Parandrinae, Prioninae, Spondylidinae. Although their coloration, size and shapes vary, they are typically characterized by extremely long antennae, which are often as long as or longer than the beetle's body. Several are serious pests, the larvae, called roundheaded borers, bore into wood, causing extensive damage to either living trees or untreated lumber. Don't you love them already?
