The Tibetan Plateau is the highest and most extensive mountain region in the world. The northeastern portion of the Plateau is situated in Qinghai Province, China. Entries should focus on birds observed in Qinghai Province, but may occasionally also include sightings from adjacent provinces and autonomous regions in the Tibetan plateau region.

This project aims to document the biodiversity of Qinghai Province, China, in particular the avian fauna. Qinghai Province includes a variety of unique ecosystems and habitats as well as many globally endangered wildlife species such as the Tibetan antelope, wild yak, snow leopard, black-necked crane, etc. Encompassing the vast headwaters of several major Asian rivers - including the Yangzte, Yellow and Mekong rivers - conservation in this part of the world is important both locally and globally. Please work with us and our many partners (including government, nature reserve authorities, and local Tibetan communities) by submitting your photographs to help protect this spectacular land. Please ask for help if uncertain about the species photographed.
