Proboscis monkey

Nasalis larvatus

Description:

Found only in Borneo, the Proboscis monkey is easy to recognise with its huge pendulous nose, characteristic pot belly and strange honking sounds. Although protected from hunting and capture, destruction of the mangrove forests has limited their population.

Notes:

Spotted whilst onboard a canoe on the river!
