Euchaetes egle
These caterpillars are gregarious during first 3 instars. Cream colored bodies, with tufts of orange, white, and black "fur". Defoliated entire leaves.
Found on Aslepias tuberosa (butterfly weed) in my flower bed.
They get much "cuter" in the latter instars. I call them the "poodles" of the caterpillar world. They have an almost robotic way of moving, very interesting to watch. Also known as the Milkweed Tiger Moth.
