Forest Crested Lizard

Calotes emma emma

Description:

this is a young male, the species are characterized by the large spine above the eye, two spines above the tympanum and by a skin fold before the shoulder which covers an area of small black scales

Habitat:

tropical forest

Notes:

I spotted this lizard at Erawan National Park. I was walking along a trail when I just stepped off it for a second, then this lizard ran over to me! Maybe I was in its territory? It let me get very close for some great photos and even let me stand underneath it when high up on a branch for a photo of us together. Awesome subject!
