Description:

This vulture is characterized by a very dark body and featherless red head. The flight feathers are lighter--almost silvery in some light, as shown in this photo.

Habitat:

This vulture ranges across much of southern Canada south to South America. There are several subspecies.

Great picture, Gordon! Project Noah has recently increased the boundaries of the mission "Raptors of Colorado" to include all of North America, and is now called (drumroll please!)
