Blue Crane

Anthropoides paradiseus

Description:

How lucky we are on that day! Quite unusually for us, we decide to drive to our destination only through gravel and dirt roads, making the trip twice longer. But... on that late afternoon, we notice in the crops the South-African national bird: the blue crane. The blue crane is pale blue-gray in colour with a white crown, a pink bill, and long, dark gray wingtip feathers.

Habitat:

Dry grassy uplands. They could be occasionally spotted on wetland.

Notes:

The blue crane is classified Vulnerable by the IUCN.
