Halcyon smyrnensis
Rather large kingfisher, approx 30cm in length. Bright-blue wing covers, buff head and white chest and chin, with large eyes and a red stork-like bill.
Seen close to habitation, in paddy fields, just around the time when these are being flooded and prepared for shrimp breeding season. Seen in a densely populated Peninsula of Teknaf, somewhere along the border.
