Smoky-eye Boulder Lichen

Description:

Crustose lichen. Up to 12 inches diameter. Gray with brown tint, with an indistinct margin. Apothecia sessile, ca. 3 mm in diam.; prominent; lecanorine (Plate-shaped with a dark, narrow, marginal ring). Disks gray with a slight metallic purple-brown sheen.

Habitat:

Growing on boulder on east-facing slope above a lake; same boulder as Pertusaria globularis (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/636...)
