Description:

African Lion. This pair of African lions live at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland. They come from Africa. Tigers are the lions’ closest relatives. Without their coats, lion and tiger bodies are so similar that only experts can tell them apart. A lion’s roar can be heard from up to five miles away. Zoo lions can live into their late teens or early 20s. Male lions in the wild live about 12 years. Females about 15 years.
