A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Tenodera sinensis
Welcome to Project Noah, rthoma4! This looks like a mantis from the genus Tenodera. The largest and more commonly found mantis from this genus is Tenodera sinensis, the Chinese Mantis. It is an introduced species that has become quit common and somewhat invasive. They are really neat insects!
Your spotting would be a nice addition to the Marvelous Mantids of the World mission: http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1573...
This is a great community for sharing your pictures of living organism.
Since you are new here, please take a few minutes to read through the FAQ page. There is a lot general information on the site as well as guidelines for posting, and such: http://www.projectnoah.org/faq
