Cordyline Terminalis
Tī has a straight thin trunk, usually 3-10 feet tall, with no branches. At the top of the trunk, large green leaves grow, spreading out in all directions.
This plant was spotted outside of a building in Kamehameha Schools Kapālama. Tī grows naturally in wet areas and forests.
Tī is quite common in Hawaiʻi, and was, and sometimes still is, used in medicine and several other Hawaiian practices and traditions.
