Saddle-billed stork

Description:

Saddle-billed stork. This saddle-billed stork lives at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, Maryland. They are native throughout Africa south of the Sahara, foraging and nesting along rivers, lake shores, flood plains and swamps. They are solitary birds feeding primarily on fish and also frogs, small reptiles, and small mammals. They are quite shy but can become tame when acclimated to people and vehicles in national parks. The population of the saddle-billed stork is considered stable.
