Apple Snails are large freshwater snails. They serve as prey for a variety of wildlife including, raccoons, kites, wading birds and alligators. Of the five species of Apple Snails observed in Florida, four are invasive. The pink color of these eggs identifies them as an invasive species, most likely Island Apple Snail. These eggs were spotted on a reed, well above the water line. Spotted at the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.
