Trametes Versicolor
The underside of this mushroom is a light sandy beige color and looks like a coral maze. On the top of the mushroom it is a combination of colors. The combination consists of a golden brown, light yellow, and in some places white. On the top of the mushroom the texture is like leather. The underside looks and feels sort of like rubber. It is thick and protrudes far outwards from the corresponding side that is attached to, in my case, a log.
This fungus lives through all of the seasons. During the winter it is easily found due to it's most favorite shelter being on stumps, dead hardwood, and fallen branches.
Great comment Jae! I just looked this spotting up to confirm ID. I agree with your suggestion.
Great photos and thanks for sharing. I think though that you have the wrong ID for this fungus. Turkey tail (Trametes versicolor) has tiny pores on the underside, the fungus in your photo has a maze-like structure. I think the one in your photo might be the Oak mazegill. (Daedalea quercina)
