Mud puppy or Water dog? Necturus. Amphibian with 4 tiny legs and branch-like gills. Mottled brown colors. Shaped very much like a tadpole and approximately the same size. Photos in green Tablespoon for size comparison.

Habitat:

Shallow muddy small pond with much vegetation around edges.
