Cathartes aura
Juvenile description - Dark throughout with golden-brown edges on wings Sharply hooked bill
Turkey Vultures are common around open areas such as roadsides, suburbs, farm fields, countryside, and food sources such as landfills, trash heaps, and construction sites. On sunny days, look for them aloft as early as 9 a.m.; in colder weather and at night they roost on poles, towers, dead trees, and fence posts.
This photo was originally posted along with my black vultures, but after much debate it has been decided that this is a Juvenile Turkey Vulture and not a black vulture as originally listed (Thanks Project Noah peeps for helping with the ID). While searching for this photo to repost correctly, I noticed that I had made several mistakes - this was not sighted at the same time nor the same place as the black vultures as originally thought. The Exif information was changed by my software when I loaded the first image. The flickr image I have posted of this bird, gives the correct EXIF, location, and date taken information, which I have used to post this corrected listing. My apologies to all for my mistake.

Thanks again Christy - I would not have noticed my other mistakes had I not had to relocate the photo to repost correctly. Much appreciated :)
