Lace Monitor

Description:

The Lace Monitor is also known as a Goanna in Australia. They can be up to 2.1 metres (nearly 7 foot) long. At about 2Kg, this one is relatively small. they can reach a maximum weight of 20 kg.(44 lb), but most are much smaller.

Habitat:

Found along much of the East coast of Australia.

Notes:

This one was rescued after being hit by a car and was in care for several months with Wildlife Rescue South Coast (NSW) before being transferred to a specialist carer in WIRES (NSW).

Update - after nearly 6 months in "rehab" looks like this grumpy goanna may be ready for release in a few weeks

@ Christane ... I checked, and guess what - no pouch! Sorry about that. I added a bunch of spottings to the Marsupials mission and accidentally included this. I have removed it as requested ;)
