Short stocky bird, about pint size, with large head and almost no neck. Rounded wings, short square tail and pointed ear tuffs. Distinctive trill.

Habitat:

Woods of any kind, especially near water.

Notes:

This owl has taken up residence in the flicker box the last two years.
