Red-winged blackbird (male)

Agelaius phoeniceus

Description:

I was able to capture this one in his takeoff stance. Adult males are all black with a red patch bordered by yellow on their wings. This one might still have some juvenile plumage.

Habitat:

Spotted at Flaming Geyser State Park at one of the wetlands along the Green River. They prefer wetlands and marshes, especially if cattails are present.
